2-3 Year Olds Class "Piccoli"

For us it is important that in this delicate age, the path is differentiated from the activities of the older ones: children of two and three years like to "get their hands dirty", play with salt colors and pastes without even seeing a " finished product ", but fully enjoying the creative process. The routines that we have studied for them are not intended as monotonous repetitions, but as stable moments that help the child to consolidate his own safety towards the "school" experience.

The youngest are therefore entrusted to the care of Stella, who has been teaching for twelve years and like all of us, a great lover of children: through specific activities Stella accompanies children to become aware of their first experiences, following the natural rhythm of their growth.

Activities of different kinds will be carried out, always elaborated to start learning while having fun, guiding children through the context of pre-reading and pre-writing; Stella knows how much we can underestimate the difficulty, for children, of discounted gestures, like holding a pencil correctly. For this reason, she invents activities of all kinds (from scraps to salt dough, from "writing" with flour to collages with recycled materials) to prepare fertile soil in the child's ductile mind, exploiting this crucial phase to stimulate those activities that will prepare him for the scholastic environment.

Our Approach

At Alice Parco Dei Bimbi Pre School, our educational approach is rooted in creating a serene, stimulating, welcoming, and well-cared-for environment. Every space is thoughtfully designed with materials and activities that encourage children to explore and move independently.

Equally important is our attention to each individual child: we carefully observe their interests, needs, and strengths in order to plan and design activities that are best suited to them.

We propose a variety of activities, including sensory experiences, fine motor development, art and painting projects, hands-on activities, and vocabulary enrichment linked to the seasons and different celebrations.

We also guide children in learning to listen, express their emotions freely, share with others, and show respect for one another.

English Program

The primary goal of the English language program for children aged 2–3 is to provide a stimulating environment where they are introduced to English in a natural, engaging, and enjoyable way. At this age, children have a heightened ability to learn multiple languages; therefore, the program seeks not only to expand their vocabulary but also to nurture positive attitudes and a genuine interest in a language that may be unfamiliar to them.

The program integrates English into children’s everyday experiences and reinforces it through age-appropriate themes, creating a cohesive and immersive learning environment. Listening and comprehension skills are developed through songs, stories, and simple instructions, while early communication in English is encouraged through words, gestures, and short phrases. Daily routines are established to build familiarity and help children perceive English as a natural part of their everyday lives.

The methodology of the English language program is based on play, repetition, and real-life contexts, aligning with the developmental needs of toddlers. English is consistently embedded into daily routines such as greetings, circle time, songs, and classroom instructions, providing meaningful and interactive exposure to the language. A theme-based approach is used to introduce new vocabulary each month, focusing on specific topics such as colors, seasons, emotions, shapes etc. Activities are designed to help children express their feelings, associate emotions with colors, and develop positive communication with teachers and peers. Key words and phrases are intentionally repeated across different settings to ensure effective internalization and retention.
