Yoga
Yoga is not only a discipline but also a philosophy of life inspired by harmony and the union of the different aspects of being: spirit, mind, and body.
For children, yoga becomes a valuable tool to support both physical and mental growth.
The goal is to provide children with some of the fundamental ingredients for their well-being: movement, creative stimulation, opportunities for self-expression and self-awareness, as well as chances to socialize and learn values such as respect, kindness, and cooperation.
On a physical level, the asanas (postures) help develop coordination, balance, muscle strength, flexibility, and proprioception. Stories, narratives, and pranayama (breathing) nurture children emotionally by helping them recognize, regulate, and express their feelings. From a cognitive perspective, visualizations, imagination, and asanas further support concentration, attention, and relaxation.
On a social level, the rules and shared activities promote self-regulation, mutual listening, respect, collaboration, and, ultimately, the ability to socialize and build relationships with others.
The framework for all of this is play, the main tool through which children learn. The theoretical foundation is the biosystemic approach, a body-centered methodology based on neurophysiology.
